Isabella Rossellini Returns to Accademia Costume & Moda to Discover the Fiamma Lanzara Library

On 23rd May 2024, we had the honour of welcoming an extraordinary figure to our Rome Campus: Isabella Rossellini, Alumnus of Accademia Costume & Moda, model, actress, ethologist, and filmmaker. Her return to her former school was not only a deeply emotional moment but also a unique opportunity for inspiration for all of us.

In particular, her visit to the Fiamma Lanzara Library was a memorable experience that further enriched her encounter with our community. Isabella had the chance to explore the vast cultural and academic heritage represented by this library, the most important cultural documentation centre on fashion in Lazio. With its collection of over 4,500 monographic volumes and 12,000 magazine issues, the Library is the beating heart of an institution that preserves the history and evolution of costume and fashion, elements that have always influenced Isabella’s journey. Her passion for visual culture and her dedication to the arts found a perfect meeting point with the heritage of the Fiamma Lanzara Library.

Isabella Rossellini, raised between Paris and Rome, completed her studies at Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome before embarking on a journey that took her to New York, where she started her career as a translator. Her talent, quickly recognised, led her to become a prominent figure in the fashion world and later in cinema, collaborating with internationally renowned directors and photographers. Her visit to the Fiamma Lanzara Library held symbolic value, serving as an additional sign of continuity between her education and career, and a lasting connection with our Academy. Thank you, Isabella, for returning to share with us your inspiration and incredible journey.
