SCIENCE FASHION. Interactions between Fashion, Science and New Technologies

The “Fiamma Lanzara” Libray took part in “SCIENCE FASHION. Interactions between Fashion, Science and New Technologies”, the conference series organised by Dobrila Denegri and hosted at the MACRO, dedicated to exploring the relationship between fashion, research, technology and contemporary experimentation.

Conceived as a multidisciplinary platform open to diverse and sometimes contrasting perspectives, Science Fashion investigated the future of fashion and creative disciplines through four main thematic areas — renewal, dematerialisation, interaction and recovery — encouraging critical reflection on the role of design and education within the contemporary landscape.

As part of the programme, Viviana Damiano, Head of “Fiamma Lanzara” Library, participated in the round table “The Digital Turn in Fashion Education: Experimentation, Heritage and New Perspectives”, moderated by Romana Andò, presenting a talk entitled “The Fiamma Lanzara Library: Past and Future of Fashion through Ancient Languages and New Technologies”.

The presentation reflected on the role of the contemporary library as a dynamic space connecting memory, cultural heritage and technological innovation. In a context where digital transformation is reshaping tools, methodologies and modes of access to knowledge, Biblioteca Fiamma Lanzara aims to foster a dialogue between historical languages and emerging technologies, enhancing both the material and immaterial dimensions of fashion culture.

Particular attention was devoted to the concept of heritage and to the importance of preserving and reinterpreting archives, publications and historical materials through interdisciplinary approaches and innovative tools capable of expanding opportunities for research and experimentation among students, researchers and industry professionals.

Participation in Science Fashion represented an important opportunity for “Fiamma Lanzara” Library to engage in an international conversation connecting fashion, art, design and technology, further confirming the value of the library as an open, active and constantly evolving cultural laboratory.
